Red Gold Tomatoes

Sarah with Red Gold Tomatoes contacted me and asked if I would like to try a few cans of Red Gold Tomatoes. I happily said yes, since I have not yet had their product and was impressed by the fact that they have been family owned since 1942! They are based in Indiana and feature locally grown Midwest tomatoes from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.

Not even 48 hours later our hard-to-love UPS man pounded on the door like a cop who meant business lightly tapped to announce it was here!

I wasn't the only one excited to see a box full of goodies! (Ok, well maybe Poe was just a little more excited about the box than the goodies!)

Inside the box was this! I happen to think it's absolutely adorable and am so excited it's mine!

But, it gets even better! Inside the keepsake can were all these goodies:

14.5 oz. can of petite diced tomatoes
14.5 oz. can of petite diced tomatoes with green chiles
14.5 oz. can of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano
Red Gold Heartwarming Recipes cookbook
Recipe cards
Reusable bag
Refrigerator magnet and frame
Foam coaster
Magnetic clip
Video library disc
Die-cast replica of Red Gold delivery truck
Letter and numbered Certificate of Authenticity

I'm still not to the best part, though! In addition to graciously offering this package to me, Sarah would like to award one to a lucky reader of Dinner at Christina's, also!

Excited yet!? I thought so!!

I love making pasta dishes with tomatoes. Cook up a nice and easy ditalini pasta with onions, carrots, and celery. Tomatoes added in give it some nice body.

Wow, what a beautiful box of yumminess! And such a gracious giveaway too. Nice!

I'm with you on the homemade sauce and I really enjoy making homemade pizza with tomatoes too. I'll bet these are delicious.

Thanks, Christina! :)

omg - love the can, it reminds me of a HUGE skippy can my grandparents kept when I was a kid it was full of hundreds of dollars of change... We counted it out when I was 12 to go to Disney, it was over $500.00. Anyway, I digress my favorite think to make with tomatoes is slow cooker tomato soup! YUM!!!

What a fabulous collection! We make and freeze lots of what we call "stewed" tomatoes. With onions, green peppers, sometimes celery. We use it in chili, goulash, vegetable soups. So great to have in the freezer! Love your blog...Sue at susielee47@hotmail.com

Mine is definitely either chili or a good spicy curry!

Well if it were whole tomatoes, I love my grilled salsa - but with canned tomatoes it has to be my buffalo chicken chili or tomato and basil marinara.

THAT'S LOTS OF LOOT!

Hope next week warms up for us, right?!

Ah, I can't say what I want to make with tomatoes, because honestly I use them in ALL sorts of ways! Seems like most people go for salsa or pasta...I've never made my own salsa before...

I'll be an egoist and say the "Sophia" Stew! Hahaha!

p.s. Read the link you left at my blog...Hee, I love it! I think I've received an email before from someone about that.

My favorite thing is lycopene cream - aka cream of tomato soup, or possibly slow roasted tomatoes to put on everything. Yum. I've never tried Red Gold tomatoes but I'd like to! (cacaogrl at yahoo dot com)

I love to make homemade tomato sauce too - perfect for slathering on homemade pizza crust! :)

For me Roasting with garlic Olive oil is where it is all at. But that dosn't really work with a can so in that case it is Chile.

Though I am a fresh-tomato-only girl when tomatoes are in season, canned tomatoes are a must when the weather is cold and fresh tomatoes should be banned from stores (sadly, they are not). I use them in tomato sauce, pasta sauce, chili, soups, all kinds of things!

My favorite dish to cook with tomatoes is... bruschetta! Little dices of tomato, onions, basil on top of a crusty bread slice and then sprinkled with olive oil. YUM. (Hey, I adore that keepsake can... how clever and can't we all think of about a million ways to use it for adorable display or storage of other items?!). (Oh, and I'm an american living overseas. In the off chance that my name wins, I have a stateside address!) :)
