Friday Firsts - Frontera Grill

Friday Firsts

Happy Friday, everybody! Today is an especially exciting one for me because it's the first Friday Firsts! (Click the image above or the one on my sidebar for more details!)

I had a few firsts this week trying new recipes and eating a new (to me) fruit, but the "first" I'm going to share with you is an exciting first time restaurant visit!

Johnny and I have been looking forward to trying one of Rick Bayless's restaurants forever! This Tuesday we finally had a chance and at ate Frontera Grill for dinner!

You can read all about our exciting first visit and look at the pictures here!

To participate in Friday Firsts just choose a "first" of your own from this week. It could be the first time you've tried a new recipe, the first time you've used a new kitchen gadget, the first time you've tried a new ingredient, the first time you tried a restaurant, or any other exciting food or kitchen firsts!

This is a place to come together as a community and share the enthusiasm, creativity, and excitement we all experience from our food and kitchen adventures! Post yours below and check out some fellow bloggers firsts, too!

If you would like to display the Friday Firsts button as a badge on your sidebar or blog post, you can copy and paste the following code.

We tried scallops for the very first time this week. They were huge (wild caught) Alaskan scallops at $14 a pound. They cooked up beautifully...2 minutes on each side, just like the books say while they looked like they should be in a magazine, they were totally void of taste and texture. Sort of like eating nothing...an expensive disappointment. Oh well, they can't all be winnes.

I love, love this idea Christina! So much fun! I'll have something to share next Friday too. We had a "first" last night, but I probably won't get around to posting about it until Monday. Will come back and link up next Friday for sure. :)

I tried using vital wheat gluten to make whole wheat bread - I am using more of the dough for my party pizza Friday tonight - wonder how the dough will be since its been in the fridge since Sunday?

Happy Friday Christina!

Thanks for participating Biz!

I saw somewhere that dough should be ok in the fridge for a week? So I think you'll be ok! You're probably the bravest I know when it comes to baking breads and pizzas!!

It's just killing me, I can't think of any firsts right now...I am so tired! I need to think a bit and hopefully come up with something. This is a great idea!

I love this idea! I'm always looking to try new things, especially dishes I've tried in restaurants and never thought I'd be able to make myself (like Bouillabaisse). I can't wait to read about other firsts!
